Education Support Officer

About the Role

 

The Education Support Officer provides academic support to students through individual and/or small-group tutoring, delivered for both proactive and remedial purposes.

 

The role also involves the development and facilitation of engaging, experiential education programs and activities designed to support diverse learning needs.

 

Aligned with Allambi’s philosophy, the Education Support Officer builds strong, respectful relationships with students and applies a range of inclusive strategies to accommodate individual learning styles, with the aim of improving educational engagement and outcomes.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and positive experience by embedding Allambi’s Needs Based Restorative Framework (NBRF), Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Framework and the North Education Model (NEM).
  • Develop healthy connections with young people, and ensure they are given the opportunity to learn and thrive in education.
  • Attend schools, placements and/or the Learning Centre to deliver tutoring sessions.
  • Schedule and manage tutoring session timetable, considering school break times, travel time, grouping areas for effective time management and young person’s needs.
  • Build positive relationships with school contacts and work collaboratively to identify any educational gaps in the young person’s learning.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing in the areas of Literacy, Numeracy and Social/Emotional regulation.
  • Plan resources and work materials based on the Individual Progress Plan (IPP) and diagnostic results.
  • Prepare semester-based diagnostic reports that evaluate academic and social/emotional development.
  • Complete weekly case notes documenting educational achievements, behavioural progress and attendance.
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, case conferences, and education meetings as required.
  • Respond appropriately to challenging behaviours and provide therapeutic crisis intervention practices when necessary.
  • Design, facilitate, and maintain education and activity programs for diverse student cohorts (e.g. Sexual Health, MiniLit, MultiLit, life skills, social/emotional programs, and holiday programs).

 

Selection Criteria

(Please address all points in your application and provide relevant examples of how you meet each criteria)

  • Certificate III in Education Support (or a related field), or a minimum of 12 months’ experience in a supportive education setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strengths-based connections with young people who present with complex or challenging behaviours.
  • Experience developing engaging lessons and/or resources based on identified learning gaps.
  • Experience in education support roles within schools, tutoring environments, or similar settings.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines and work independently.

  • Drivers License
  • Comprehensively insured vehicle
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Copy of relevant qualification as above
