NDIS - Coordinator Of Supports (Fixed Term to November 2025)

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for the role of Coordinator of Supports in the NDIS department for a fixed term to November 2025.

 

This role is benchmarked at a Casework Manager Level.

Position Objective

 

Support Coordination is a service provided by Allambi Care designed to help individuals effectively utilize their NDIS support budgets to achieve personal goals. This involves working creatively and resourcefully with participants to navigate and leverage various available resources. The primary aim is to enhance the participant's ability to independently manage their supports over time.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

Support Coordinators at Allambi Care play a multifaceted role in assisting participants with their support plans. Their responsibilities include:

 

Assessing Options:

  • Evaluate mainstream, community, informal, and provider options available to the participant.

 

Choosing and Negotiating Services:

  • Assist participants in selecting preferred options or providers.
  • Negotiate the services to be provided and their costs.
  • Develop service agreements and create service bookings with the chosen providers.
  • Negotiate services and prices for any quotable supports.

 

Arranging Assessments:

  • Organise necessary assessments to determine the type and extent of funding required (e.g., for complex home modifications, FCA’s).

 

Budget Management:

  • Work closely with the participant and their support network to develop budget allocation for each type of support.
  • Inform the relevant plan manager about the breakdown of funds.
  • Collaborate with plan managers to establish appropriate claim categories and allocate funds correctly.
  • Negotiate with the NDIA when relevant to amend budget discrepancies.

 

Linking to Services:

  • Connect participants with mainstream or community services such as housing, education, transport, and health.
  • Provide optionality of services to the participant and their support network.
  • Assist participant to understand services and service agreements.

 

Capacity Building:

  • Enhance the participant's ability to coordinate, self-direct, and manage their supports.
  • Assist participants in resolving any issues that arise.
  • Ensure participants understand their responsibilities under service agreements.
  • Help participants change or terminate service agreements as needed.

 

Additional Support Roles

 

Beyond the core responsibilities, Support Coordinators at Allambi Care may also:

 

Prepare Plan Reviews:

  • Assist participants in preparing for their plan reviews by evaluating goal achievements and value for money.
  • Identify and address any problems encountered in plan implementation.
  • Help participants consider new goals.
  • Support participants in exploring housing options and planning life transitions.

 

Promote Independence

 

A primary objective for Support Coordinators at Allambi Care is to reduce the participant's need for support over time by fostering their independence. This involves empowering participants to take more control over their support coordination, gradually building their capacity to manage their support autonomously.

 

By working collaboratively and focusing on capacity-building, Support Coordinators help participants not only achieve their immediate goals but also develop the skills and confidence to manage their future needs independently.

 

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, in particular support coordination processes and relevant NDIS regulatory frameworks.
  • At least 1 years working with people with a disability including children and young people, or in a similar environment to AC.
  • Relevant experience in service quoting, understanding of NDIS price guide, and provision of support work for people with a disability.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse, respond to, and manage respond to risk, incidents and complaints positively and proactively.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and participate in performance management systems designed to
      • Create a positive organisational environment that values the contributions of each individual employee.
      • Promotes the importance of collaborative work to achieve greater motivation and outcomes for participants.
      • Ensures Allambi Care services are delivered by employees who are competent in relation to their role and who have relevant guidance, expertise, and experience.
  • Proven abilities in negotiation, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated evidence of excellent time management and organisational skills, and ability to prioritise tasks.
  • High level of computer literacy in using a range of computer systems including Microsoft Office Applications
  • Demonstrated high level written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to obtain the information relevant to the individual’s circumstances and documenting discussions for the planning process.
