We are looking for a committed individual to join us as a Supported Independent Living (SIL) Youth Support Worker on a permanent full-time basis. About Us Allambi Care has built a reputation for taking on the toughest of cases and a never give up attitude. The result is an adaptive team that puts the kids in our care - at the heart of everything we do.
We’ve been in the industry for more than 40 years and have seen our operations grow from a small youth refuge in the New South Wales coastal town of Redhead, to an organisation operating across the Hunter, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast, Northern Rivers and Victoria. The Allambi Care family is growing, with more than 800 team members, providing wrap around services in youth and disability support, clinical support, homelessness support, court support, outreach and intervention, education, NDIS and foster care. About the SIL Program T-SIL is a program that is designed to cater to young people aged from 16 years of age in attaining their own residence, and then stepping them through the skills required to maintain independent living including skills including budgeting, maintaining amenities, accessing education and employment opportunities. The main goals are to transition young people from the Permanency Support Program (PSP) to the SIL program, once the program goals are achieved the participants are assisted in finding and being supported in long term accommodation; linking into programs such as Rent Choice Youth, House Accord, the Department of Housing or the private rental market. This will encourage the participants to live independently after being engaged in the PSP program. About the Role As a youth worker in TSIL, no day is the same and it can vary from attending appointments, assisting the young person to maintain their home, or supporting them to access the community. TSIL placements do not contain an office and shift notes are often documented or emailed following the shift. TSIL clients don’t follow a planner like a residential placement so it’s important to ensure a high level of communication with the caseworker is facilitated so shift objectives are understood prior to the shift commencing. The SIL Youth Worker will be required to be available Monday to Friday with some work on the weekend based on Client needs. To view the full position description, click HERE.
