About the Role

As a Grounds Maintenance Assistant you will complete grounds maintenance of all Allambi properties, providing clients with a clean and safe environment.

Operations

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment for clients and employees in keeping with WHS principles
• Repair and maintenance of equipment
• Mow and edge lawns
• General maintenance of gardens including pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs
• Applying pesticides and fertilizers as necessary
• Rubbish removal
• Assist with additional tasks including moving furniture, house set ups and other forms of maintenance
• Maintain tools and equipment appropriately to ensure safety and security
• Store tools and equipment appropriately according to working environment
• Monitor, address and report all identified issues to Grounds Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner
• Motivate and promote increased productivity
• Quality control of all site grounds
• Support and train youth in relation to maintaining a job in the grounds maintenance industry
• Undertake external works within the community under the banner of Community Property Maintenance

Work Health & Safety

• Ensure all documentation is completed and up to date at all times in line with WHS Management System
• Ensure WHS policies and procedures are adhered to
• Identify WHS issues and take appropriate steps to ensure rectification in a timely manner
• Wear safety and provided PPE equipment at all times
• Keep up to date on all regulatory and legislative requirements pertaining to work performed
• Maintain work practices in line with MSDS information
• Be aware and maintain standards according to manual handling principles and compartmentation
• Perform daily safety checks of all equipment and vehicles

Other Responsibilities

• Undertake additional tasks as instructed by Director Education & Development
• Attend meetings when required
• Undertake additional training as required by additional duties
• Work unsupervised and effectively for extended periods of time while managing jobs
• Maintain a professional approach and image at all times when liaising with external organisations, businesses and trades
• Mentoring young people
• Be aware of client behaviours at Allambi houses and ensure discretionary judgment is used when performing tasks on-site
• Ensure that all Allambi policies and procedures are understood and followed at all time

Minimum Requirements

• 12 months experience in a relevant trade
• Current Manual Driver's License
• Broad range of maintenance skills
• Experience with commercial ride-on mowers and other power garden equipment
• High level of physical health and fitness to manage physical demands of the role
• Maintain a tidy and professional appearance
• Strong team working skills
• Sound knowledge of WHS policies and principles
• Outstanding communication, organisational and time management skills

Position Objective

Support and role model for direct care staff around the daily implementation of the therapeutic intervention strategies for Children, Young People (CYP) and Participants in alignment with Allambi’s Needs Based Restorative Framework. Manage the day to day operations of the care environment and implementation of case plan goals and individual service planning (ISP) goals. Support and coach staff to improve their practice and achieve permanency outcomes for CYP.  

Position Summary

The role of the House Manager is a front-line supervisory role to support and develop staff to drive the day-to-day implementation of the Needs Based Restorative Framework, Permanency Case Plan goals/ ISP goals. The house manager will directly oversee teams of direct care staff and will work closely with the Therapeutic Specialist around supporting, training, and mentoring them to create a care environment for CYP. The House Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of the Care environment for several placements. The House Manager will be responsible for multiple placements and managing a range of dynamic environments at the same time.

Personal Capabilities required

• A willingness to work in accordance with the Allambi values and comply with Allambi’s policies and procedures.
• Capacity to support direct care staff to form positive relationships with children, young people and participants and take every opportunity to respond to their individual needs in a restorative way.
• Ability to maintain energy and commitment while working in a demanding environment, where young people and participants may display aggression, distress and other complex emotional and behavioural issues.
• Ability to role model to direct care staff how to play and have fun with children, young people and participants in an age and developmentally appropriate way.
• Capacity to support direct care staff to engage with all children, young people, participants, families and colleagues in an inclusive manner regarding race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
• Capacity to engage in cultural awareness training and be proactive around inclusivity and cultural safety.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team, to share information, be receptive to the ideas of others, and manage team relationships and dynamics in a professional manner.
• Ability to respond to a wide range of operational issues with flexibility and initiative, with the capacity to receive and provide constructive feedback.

Key areas of work

• Responsible for the leadership, supervision, support and development of the staff.
• Responsibility for managing team dynamics and addressing low level staff performance issues. A willingness to work with Senior staff and People, Support and Culture to address more significant issues.
• Drive and support the team of Direct Care staff to implement the case plan goals/ ISP goals in the day to day lives of CYP and participants.
• Have an understanding of, and hold staff accountable, around their involvement in achieving the permanency Case Plan goal.
• Reporting of information to assist in the mapping of monthly Outcomes.
• Assist in the development and application of daily routines for each child, young person or participant and provide feedback on any strengths or barriers.
• Supporting CYP and /or their family to engage in specialised therapeutic interventions as stipulated in the Case Plan.
• Attend and contribute to Care Team meetings.
• Attend NDIS planning meetings, ensuring all reports are collected and collated prior to any meetings occurring, and ensuring that the child, young person or participant’s needs are advocated for strongly
• Organisation and documentation of specialised therapeutic interventions with the child or young person, and/or their family, as stipulated in the Case Plan.
• Ensure direct care staff are working according to the child, young person or participant’s Case Plan/ ISP goals and Positive Response and Intervention Plan. Provide continual feedback around the effectiveness of the plan.
• Participate in reflective practice with a commitment to improving service quality, by supporting direct care staff to utilise reflective practice to allow the growth of the team.
• Mentor the day to day implementation of the Needs Based Restorative Framework by direct care staff.
• Attend and document professional appointments for CYP (legal, health, education, vocation etc.)
• Maintain the safety and quality of the Care Environment.
• Ensure day to day alignment with the State regulatory standards (NSW Framework for Therapeutic OOHC Core Principals, and the Ten Essential Elements or Victorian Human Service Standards).
• Provision of mentoring, feedback and training to direct care staff in order to develop their therapeutic care skills and the implementation of the Needs Based Restorative Framework. Provide feedback to management staff around areas of strength and development for each team member.
• Manage the day to day administrative needs of the house.
• Communicate risk through both ROSH Reports and the Suicide Risk procedure.
• Demonstrate collaborative practice through the ongoing development of relationships with the Care Team members and through maintaining effective communication.
• Liaise with different departments within Allambi to ensure the smooth running of the placements.

Minimum requirements (Essential Criteria)

• Diploma Level Qualification with a future desire to complete a qualification or working towards qualification, in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, psychiatric nursing, Human Services or similar. Proof of qualification is required.
• Willingness to undertake role specific training in frontline management if they do not hold prior qualifications.
• Experience in working with children, young people and participants with complex and difficult emotional and behavioural issues, within a residential care context.
• Skills to engage with the family members of the children, young people and participants, work with families, and assist in the maintenance of appropriate family relationships.
• Demonstrated autonomy when supporting multiple teams and clients.
• Knowledge of Needs Based Framework, TCI concepts and strategies.
• Knowledge of State regulatory standards.
• Strong knowledge of Allambi Care policies and procedures
• High level written, communication and time management skills.

Desirable:

• Qualifications, training or certificates in trauma-informed services are desirable.  
• 2 years experience within case work practice with children and young people in an OOHC environment.

Position Objective

Support and role model for direct care staff around the daily implementation of the therapeutic intervention strategies for Children, Young People (CYP) and Participants in alignment with Allambi’s Needs Based Restorative Framework. Manage the day to day operations of the therapeutic care environment and implementation of case plan goals and individual service planning (ISP) goals. Support and coach staff to improve their practice and achieve permanency outcomes for CYP.  

Position Summary

This is a role is a change to our current structure. The aim of this role is to provide consistency to the young people we work with and provide consistent care, in order to create better outcomes. House Managers will be responsible for one house. Which is a maximum of 2-4 clients (1x  4 bed placement, 1 x 3 bed placement, 5 x 2 bed placement). House Managers will do shifts in the house with their staff, with a minimum of one day in office. Shifts will be Monday to Friday with House Managers having priority over one overtime shift on the weekend in their house.

The role of the House Manager is a front-line supervisory role to support and develop staff to drive the day-to-day implementation of the Needs Based Restorative Framework, Permanency Case Plan goals/ ISP goals. The House Manager will directly oversee teams of direct care staff and will work closely with the Therapeutic Specialist to implement therapeutic interventions within the house. House Managers will report to Residential Coordinators. The office day will focus on administration, supporting, training, and mentoring them to create a therapeutic care environment for CYP, as well as development and coaching around staff support. The House Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of the Therapeutic Care environment of one placement.

Professional competencies and skills required

• Experience in working with children and young people with complex and difficult emotional and behavioural issues, within a residential care context.
• An understanding of the impact of trauma on children, and their families.
• Theoretical understandings of attachment and trauma informed care.
• Knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act, 2005 and The Commission for children and Young people’s Reportable Conduct Scheme.
• Knowledge of the legal and ethical guidelines governing requirements for mandatory reporting
• Ability to use collaborative practice principles when working with other stakeholders.
• Understanding of screening, intake, transition and exit assessment procedures.
• Ability to manage critical incidents utilising Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) methods.
• Skills to engage with the family members of the children and young people, work with families, and assist in the maintenance of appropriate family relationships.
• Skills and strategies to manage the safety of children and young people, and staff, through attention to detail, ability to manage risk, and report all concerns or incidents as per Allambi policy and procedure.
• Ability to manage client files in compliance with Allambi policy and procedure, contractual and statutory requirements.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding the child or young person’s information and that of their family.
• Willingness to work within Allambi Workplace Health and Safety policy and procedure, as well as WHS legislation, and report all hazards and incidents.
• Willingness to implement all Allambi policies and procedures, particularly in relation to maintaining the residential house, all files and other paperwork.
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, to complete the Case Plans and other essential reports and forms, in a timely manner.
• Computer literacy.

Key areas of work

• Responsible for the leadership, supervision, support and development of the ITC staff.
• Responsibility for managing team dynamics and addressing low level staff performance issues. A willingness to work with Senior staff and People, Support and Culture to address more significant issues.
• Drive and support the team of Direct Care staff to implement the case plan goals/ ISP goals in the day to day lives of CYP and participants.
• Have an understanding of, and hold staff accountable, around their involvement in achieving the permanency Case Plan goal.
• Reporting of information to assist in the mapping of monthly Outcomes.
• Assist in the development and application of daily routines for each child, young person or participant and provide feedback on any strengths or barriers.
• Supporting CYP and /or their family to engage in specialised therapeutic interventions as stipulated in the Case Plan.
• Attend and contribute to Care Team meetings.
• Organisation and documentation of specialised therapeutic interventions with the child or young person, and/or their family, as stipulated in the Case Plan.
• Ensure direct care staff are working according to the child, young person or participant’s Case Plan/ ISP goals and Positive Response and Intervention Plan. Provide continual feedback around the effectiveness of the plan.
• Participate in reflective practice with a commitment to improving service quality, by supporting direct care staff to utilise reflective practice to allow the growth of the team.
• Mentor the day to day implementation of the Needs Based Restorative Framework by direct care staff.
• Attend and document professional appointments for CYP (legal, health, education, vocation etc.)
• Maintain the safety and quality of the Care Environment.
• Provision of mentoring, feedback and training to direct care staff in order to develop their therapeutic care skills and the implementation of the Needs Based Restorative Framework. Provide feedback to management staff around areas of strength and development for each team member.
• Manage the day to day administrative needs of the house.
• Demonstrate collaborative practice through the ongoing development of relationships with the Care Team members and through maintaining effective communication.
• Liaise with different departments within Allambi to ensure the smooth running of the placements.
• Participate in reflective practice with a commitment to improving service quality, by using reflective practice to allow the growth of the team in relation to practice.
• Ensure administrative alignment with the State regulatory standards (Ten Essential Elements or Victorian Human Service Standards).
• Ensure that DFFH management are updated on incidents that occur with clients and in necessary a CIM’s report completed.
• Ensure all relevant documentation is uploaded to AIMS.
• Ensure all relevant information is entered into AIM’s in a timely manner.

In circumstances where Allambi Care has Contracted Case Management:

• Organise all relevant information about the child or young person and work collaboratively with the Residential Coordinator to form an assessment plan, which may include collecting information from case files and other service providers.
• Collate any information needed prior to and organise aspects of the assessment of the child or young person and their family.
• Collation of information to assist in the weekly/fortnightly/monthly Care Team Meetings.
• Organisation and documentation of specialised therapeutic interventions with the child or young person, and/or their family, as stipulated in the Case Plan.
• Organise, attend and document Care Team Meetings. Be responsible for collating all information that is required for these meetings.

In circumstances where Allambi Care does not have Contracted case management:

• Liaise with the DFFH Case manager for each child or young person and attend Care Team meetings to assist with assessment and information of Care Team goals and the implementation of interventions required.

Minimum requirements (Essential Criteria)

• Relevant qualification required with a future desire to complete a qualification or working towards qualification, in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, psychiatric nursing, Human Services or similar. Proof of qualification is required.
• Willingness to undertake role specific training in frontline management if they do not hold prior qualifications.
• Experience in working with children, young people and participants with complex and difficult emotional and behavioural issues, within a residential care context.
• Skills to engage with the family members of the children, young people and participants, work with families, and assist in the maintenance of appropriate family relationships.
• Demonstrated autonomy when supporting multiple teams and clients.
• Knowledge of Needs Based Framework, TCI concepts and strategies.
• Knowledge of State regulatory standards.
• Strong knowledge of Allambi Care policies and procedures
• High level written, communication and time management skills.

Position Objective

Support and role model for direct care staff around the daily implementation of the therapeutic intervention strategies for Children, Young People (CYP) and Participants in alignment with Allambi’s Needs Based Restorative Framework. Manage the day to day operations of the therapeutic care environment and implementation of case plan goals and individual service planning (ISP) goals. Support and coach staff to improve their practice and achieve permanency outcomes for CYP.  

Position Summary

This is a role is a change to our current structure. The aim of this role is to provide consistency to the young people we work with and provide consistent care, in order to create better outcomes. House Managers will be responsible for one house. Which is a maximum of 2-4 clients. House Managers will do shifts in the house with their staff, with a minimum of one day in office. Shifts will be 9am -5pm, Monday to Friday with House Managers having priority over one overtime shift on the weekend in their house.

The role of the House Manager is a front-line supervisory role to support and develop staff to drive the day-to-day implementation of the Needs Based Restorative Framework, Permanency Case Plan goals/ ISP goals. The House Manager will directly oversee teams of direct care staff and will work closely with the Therapeutic Specialist to implement therapeutic interventions within the house. House Managers will report to Residential Coordinators. The office day will focus on administration, supporting, training, and mentoring them to create a therapeutic care environment for CYP, as well as development and coaching around staff support. The House Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of the Therapeutic Care environment of one placement.

Professional competencies and skills required

• Experience in working with children and young people with complex and difficult emotional and behavioural issues, within a residential care context.
• An understanding of the impact of trauma on children, and their families.
• Theoretical understandings of attachment and trauma informed care.
• Knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act, 2005 and The Commission for children and Young people’s Reportable Conduct Scheme.
• Knowledge of the legal and ethical guidelines governing requirements for mandatory reporting
• Ability to use collaborative practice principles when working with other stakeholders.
• Understanding of screening, intake, transition and exit assessment procedures.
• Ability to manage critical incidents utilising Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) methods.
• Skills to engage with the family members of the children and young people, work with families, and assist in the maintenance of appropriate family relationships.
• Skills and strategies to manage the safety of children and young people, and staff, through attention to detail, ability to manage risk, and report all concerns or incidents as per Allambi policy and procedure.
• Ability to manage client files in compliance with Allambi policy and procedure, contractual and statutory requirements.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding the child or young person’s information and that of their family.
• Willingness to work within Allambi Workplace Health and Safety policy and procedure, as well as WHS legislation, and report all hazards and incidents.
• Willingness to implement all Allambi policies and procedures, particularly in relation to maintaining the residential house, all files and other paperwork.
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, to complete the Case Plans and other essential reports and forms, in a timely manner.
• Computer literacy.

Key areas of work

• Responsible for the leadership, supervision, support and development of the ITC staff.
• Responsibility for managing team dynamics and addressing low level staff performance issues. A willingness to work with Senior staff and People, Support and Culture to address more significant issues.
• Drive and support the team of Direct Care staff to implement the case plan goals/ ISP goals in the day to day lives of CYP and participants.
• Have an understanding of, and hold staff accountable, around their involvement in achieving the permanency Case Plan goal.
• Reporting of information to assist in the mapping of monthly Outcomes.
• Assist in the development and application of daily routines for each child, young person or participant and provide feedback on any strengths or barriers.
• Supporting CYP and /or their family to engage in specialised therapeutic interventions as stipulated in the Case Plan.
• Attend and contribute to Care Team meetings.
• Organisation and documentation of specialised therapeutic interventions with the child or young person, and/or their family, as stipulated in the Case Plan.
• Ensure direct care staff are working according to the child, young person or participant’s Case Plan/ ISP goals and Positive Response and Intervention Plan. Provide continual feedback around the effectiveness of the plan.
• Participate in reflective practice with a commitment to improving service quality, by supporting direct care staff to utilise reflective practice to allow the growth of the team.
• Mentor the day to day implementation of the Needs Based Restorative Framework by direct care staff.
• Attend and document professional appointments for CYP (legal, health, education, vocation etc.)
• Maintain the safety and quality of the Care Environment.
• Provision of mentoring, feedback and training to direct care staff in order to develop their therapeutic care skills and the implementation of the Needs Based Restorative Framework. Provide feedback to management staff around areas of strength and development for each team member.
• Manage the day to day administrative needs of the house.
• Demonstrate collaborative practice through the ongoing development of relationships with the Care Team members and through maintaining effective communication.
• Liaise with different departments within Allambi to ensure the smooth running of the placements.
• Participate in reflective practice with a commitment to improving service quality, by using reflective practice to allow the growth of the team in relation to practice.
• Ensure administrative alignment with the State regulatory standards (Ten Essential Elements or Victorian Human Service Standards).
• Ensure that DFFH management are updated on incidents that occur with clients and in necessary a CIM’s report completed.
• Ensure all relevant documentation is uploaded to AIMS.
• Ensure all relevant information is entered into AIM’s in a timely manner.

In circumstances where Allambi Care has Contracted Case Management:

• Organise all relevant information about the child or young person and work collaboratively with the Residential Coordinator to form an assessment plan, which may include collecting information from case files and other service providers.
• Collate any information needed prior to and organise aspects of the assessment of the child or young person and their family.
• Collation of information to assist in the weekly/fortnightly/monthly Care Team Meetings.
• Organisation and documentation of specialised therapeutic interventions with the child or young person, and/or their family, as stipulated in the Case Plan.
• Organise, attend and document Care Team Meetings. Be responsible for collating all information that is required for these meetings.

In circumstances where Allambi Care does not have Contracted case management:

• Liaise with the DFFH Case manager for each child or young person and attend Care Team meetings to assist with assessment and information of Care Team goals and the implementation of interventions required.

Minimum requirements (Essential Criteria)

• Relevant qualification required with a future desire to complete a qualification or working towards qualification, in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, psychiatric nursing, Human Services or similar. Proof of qualification is required.
• Willingness to undertake role specific training in frontline management if they do not hold prior qualifications.
• Experience in working with children, young people and participants with complex and difficult emotional and behavioural issues, within a residential care context.
• Skills to engage with the family members of the children, young people and participants, work with families, and assist in the maintenance of appropriate family relationships.
• Demonstrated autonomy when supporting multiple teams and clients.
• Knowledge of Needs Based Framework, TCI concepts and strategies.
• Knowledge of State regulatory standards.
• Strong knowledge of Allambi Care policies and procedures
• High level written, communication and time management skills.

• CHCPRT033 – Provide support to children and youth in out-of-home care
• CHCPRT034 – Work with children and young people with complex trauma and attachment issues and needs
